FAT EWES: (1179)
The biggest entry for some time with some good runs of strong ewes on show together with the usual selection of Welsh ewes. Trade was broadly similar to recent weeks with poor ewes perhaps a little back. Overall average was £70 with a top price of £143 for a pen of Texel ewes from I G Evans & Son, Halton.

CALVES (15) & WEANLINGS: (16)
Nowhere near enough calves to meet demand with the entry dominated by native breeds. A good selection of Herefords sold well with bulls selling to £278, £275 & £264 from J O J Steele, Treflach Hall; £245 from D J H Foulkes & Son, Maesteg; £242 from R B Edwards, Lower Sweeney. Hereford heifers to £208 from D J H Foulkes & Son, Maesteg; £200 (twice) from R B Edwards, Lower Sweeney. Aberdeen Angus bulls to £250 from R L Francis, New Barns. Welsh Black bulls to £165 & heifers to £150 from R W Suckley & Son, Weston.
A nice selection of weanlings sold to a full ringside of buyers with Limousin bulls aged 3 months selling for £635 & £500 from S K Hodgson, Arddleen Grange. British Blue bulls to £535 from R L Francis, New Barns. British Blue heifers aged 6-7 months sold for £600 from R L Francis, New Barns; British Blue heifers aged 8 months sold for £435 & £415 and Aberdeen Angus heifers aged 7 months sold for £405 all from T Adams, Stoney Heath. Limousin heifers aged 2 & 3 months sold for £418 & £395 from S K Hodgson, Arddleen Grange.
STORE CATTLE: (29)
A seasonal entry with steers averaging £1002 (224p/kg) and heifers £663 (196p/kg). Top price of the day was £1470 (216p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 19 months sold by R J & N M Edwards & Sons, Llanarmon D C.

£840 (251p/kg) paid for 2 Limousin steers aged 10 months, £780 (211p/kg) & £690 (216p/kg) paid for Aberdeen Angus and Limousin heifers aged 11 & 19 months all sold by J H H Jerman & Co, Churchstoke.
£1050 (244p/kg) paid for a Limousin steer aged 15 months sold by I M Powell, Rhosymadoc.
£920 (239p/kg) & £850 (233p/kg) paid for British Blue and Aberdeen Angus steers aged 17-19 months sold by J R James, St Martins.
£850 (236p/kg) paid for 5 Limousin steers aged 11 months sold by G & T A Williams, Pontrobert.
£1195 (219p/kg) paid for a Limousin steer aged 24 months sold by M I & T E M Pritchard, Llanymynech.
