An entry of 17 Prime Cattle this week that met another terrific trade. But more cattle are needed each week to satisfy demand! Please keep numbers coming as there is a fantastic trade each week! Smart handy weight butchers beasts selling to a premium once again.

A better show in terms of size and quality today. Trade a touch sharper all round with half meated Welsh ewes noticeably up on the week. Top price was £99.50 paid for a Texel ewe from E W & M Jones & Son, Nantyr. A mixed selection of Rams topped at £105 for a tup from P G Roberts, Cymdu
STORE SHEEP: (525)
An entry of 511 Store Sheep at Oswestry this week that met a fantastic trade throughout.
Yearling Mule ewes sold to £144 from JW Jones & Partners, Pantglas Isaf and averaged £130.87.
JW Jones & Partners presented a strong run of 90 yearling Mule ewes that averaged £138.53.
An entry of 136 Store Lambs that also met a strong trade with mixed lambs selling to £76 from L Turner, Waen Farm and ewe lambs to £78 from LR Mattews, The Towers.
15 rams sold strong to average £288.26 and sold to 450gns for a 3 year old Texel ram from E & C Davies, Pant Du Farm.

Quite substantial numbers today with similar demand for good sorts whilst poorer younger types were quite significantly less which was inline with other local centres. A strong trade even with some centres reporting a slight easing over the past couple of weeks. Top price was £1320 (180p/kg) paid for 2 Aberdeen Angus steers aged 27 & 28 months sold by D E & E Davies, Sarn.
71 steers averaged £934 (189p/kg) & 58 heifers averaged £837 (194p/kg) with notable prices including:
R J Slater & Son, Baschurch sold a British Blue steer aged 12 months for £900 (222p/kg), a Bazadaise heifer aged 14 months for £855 (238p/kg) and a bunch of Limousin heifers aged 15 months for £780 (217p/kg).
W K Lea & Co, Whittington sold Limousin heifers aged 13-17 months for £935 (228p/kg), £920 (230p/kg) & £840 thrice (247, 242 & 215p/kg).
£835 (217p/kg) paid for 4 Charolais steers aged 10 months sold by R E Jones & Son, Brooks. Entries now invited for our sales on 7th 21st & 28th October 2020
