Not a bad day to report, nice to see more lambs in town and trade to go with them. Store sheep steady, Store Cattle simmering, Beef and Cows rocking, Calves tidy, keep filling this yard for your advantage.
FAT CATTLE: (23)
A very poor show in terms of numbers with buyers complaining that more cattle are needed and given the trade we have been having there should have been more forward. Top slots hit 264p for Heifers, 222p for Bulls and 176p for Steers. Highest price in the lump was £1498 for a Bull. Bottom book of 166p for a Hereford Heifer. An overall market average of 205.5p/kg was achieved.

FAT LAMBS: (2385)
A good entry of 2385 prime lambs. The trade was competitive and compared favourably with neighbouring markets and the country as a whole. The overall average was 172p/kg with the SQQ at 173p/kg, The 200 Lights averaged 162.3p/kg with the variation from 152p/kg to 172p/kg, the top call was from A D Jones Lawnt with 31.5kg at £54.20. 635 Standards averaged 168.5p/kg with the variation from 152p/kg to 187p/kg, J D & M Buckley Rhiwgoch topped this section with 39kg at £73. 838 Mediums averaged 177.54p/kg with the variation from 145p to 202p/kg, the top call was from M & S Jones Lower Forest with 44.5kg at £90. 579 Heavy’s were very well competed for with the average at 171.69p/kg, the top call at £90.80 from R H Buckley & Sons Cefn Ucha. More lambs are required each week to fulfil increasing demand. Ample sorting facilities and staff available to assist.
FAT EWES: (963)
More Welsh ewes around met with plenty of buyers but only looking up to a price. Overall average was
£31 with a top price of £87 for ewes from M A Manford-Jones, Tetchill. 13 Rams averaged £70 with a top
price of £129 for a tup from W R Taylor, Llansilin.

A very ordinary selection of calves with only a handful of good quality selling to a much more difficult trade with only the best attracting keen bidding.
