FAT CATTLE: (9)
A top quality show of Prime Cattle forward again this week that met a tremendous trade throughout. More cattle are needed each week to satisfy the demand!
Top price of the day per kilo was achieved by Ellis Lloyd & Co, Garthiaen, Llandrillo who sold a 545kg Limousin x heifer for 264p/kg = £1438.80.
D C Evans, Pen y Waen, Denbigh presented 3 cracking heifers with an average weight of 595kg @ 238.62p/kg = £1419.78.

FAT HOGGETS: (660)
A reasonable entry of 660 Hoggets on Wednesday 25th March 2020. This was a very good entry considering the huge uncertainty revolving around the general public and Covid-19.
81 Lights averaged 180.37p/kg and peaked at 187p/kg from S J Smith Penybryn with 31kg at £58.
134 Standards averaged 194.88p/kg and peaked at 266p/kg from J Haycocks Maes Wen with 38kg at £86.
284 Mediums averaged 201.72p/kg peaking at 215p/kg from F A Jones Sandstone with 43kg at £92.50.
58 Heavy’s averaged 194.69p/kg and up to £98.50 (205p/kg) from F A Jones Sandstone.
Mr B Francis Glanbanwy had 60kg hoggs to £105 and sold another 30 to average 54kg at £102.50 or 183p/kg.
Overall average 197.36p/kg.
FAT EWES: (148)
As expected, a small entry met with much lower trade than that seen last week. Nevertheless, an overall average of £58 was achieved with Charollais ewes from G R Lewis & Sons, Llanrhaeadr selling to £101.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (8)
Only 8 calves on show but a decent trade throughout with a 3 month old British Blue bull selling to £332 from Eyton Farms, Alberbury and other Blue bull calves selling to £294 & £279 from T Lewis, Maesbury. British Blue heifers to £210 from D J H Foulkes & Son, Maesteg. Limousin bulls to £265 and heifers to £202 from T T Jones & Son, Ladyhill. STORE CATTLE: (188)
Under very strange circumstances a successful sale was held which is a real credit to our vendors, buyers and staff. The conditions had no noticeable impact on the trade with buyers still keen to purchase cattle of all types. Top price of the day was £1115 (192p/kg) and went to a pair of British Blue steers aged 20 months sold by P G Wainwright & Co, Llanwnog.
87 steers averaged £811 (191p/kg) with notable prices including:
£880 (232p/kg) & £865 (244p/kg) paid for Limousin & Charolais steers aged 11 months sold by Edwards Bros, Llanrhaeadr.
£920 (227p/kg), £900 (231p/kg) & £880 (232p/kg) paid for Limousin & Charolais steers aged 8-9 months sold by J M Davies & Sons, Llangollen.
£930 (230p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 11 months sold by Partneriaeth Llymystyn, Foel.
98 heifers averaged £770 (187p/kg) with notable prices including:
£955 (217p/kg) paid for 3 Blue heifers aged 21 months sold by J H Williams, Llansilin.
£885 (219p/kg) paid for 2 Limousin heifers aged 19 months sold by J W Ellis & Son, Dolanog.
£760 (276p/kg) paid for a Limousin heifer aged 11 months sold by M Morris, Bettws.
Subject to Government guidelines remaining the same our next store sale will commence at 10AM (PLEASE NOTE REVISED START TIME) on 1st April with all cattle required to be in the market by 9am. Entries are invited for future sales on the 8th, 22nd & 29th April.
