FAT CATTLE: (23)
A slightly reduced entry of 23 clean cattle, an entry of 16 heifers averaged 195ppk ranging from 228p to 155p and steers averaged 191ppk. Quality bred Charolais heifers topped at 228ppk, presented by W Hughes and Son, Waen Farm, Llansantffraid. Continental x dairy steers peaked at 184ppk presented by J P Evans and Son, Lower Eyton Farm. Overall a strong trade considering the beef market’s current position. FAT LAMBS: (3341)
This week we saw a similar entry of 3341 prime lambs that met a terrific trade from start to finish with an overall average of 188p/kg being achieved. A tremendous average whilst considering that over 1/3 of the entry would be hill lambs. However these still sold to a very strong trade with 67 welsh lambs weighing 35kg reaching a fantastic £67!!

Standards (990) selling to 218p/kg or £84 from E Lloyd & Co Garthiaen. Average 186.5p/kg.
Mediums (1371) selling to 214p/kg or £92 from T M & M P Evans & Son Wern Farm. Average 190p/kg.
Heavy’s (308) selling to 220p/kg or £110 from Hughes Bros Penybryn. Average 181.5p/kg.
FAT EWES: (717)
The trade perhaps not hitting the heights of last week with stronger ewes a touch easier. Nevertheless, a similar overall average of £45 was achieved with a top price of £109 for 2 Suffolk ewes from F A Jones, Babbinswood. A large entry of 42 tups averaged £61 with a top price of £89 for a Texel tup from S Hudson, Lower Frankton.

Generally easier today with only the best continental Males attracting any real bidding. A decent entry of weanlings were well sold.
