FAT CATTLE: (22)
Very low on numbers and only a few butchers heifers on show. We need more handyweight meated butchers heifers each week to keep buyer support. Top slots hit 221p for Heifers & 178p for Steers. Highest in the lump was a steer at £1279. Bottom book of 155p for a dairy bred heifer. If you have cattle to sell please contact the Auctioneer Jonathan Evans on 07971 002650 or the Market office. Mke sure all cattle are clean and double tagged when offered for sale. An overall average of 181p was achieved.

FAT LAMBS: (3092)
A very god entry of 3092 prime lambs on Wednesday 9th October 2019. This was an increase of 20% on the same market held in October 2018. The overall average was 161.5p/kg with the SQQ at 162p/kg. These averages compared very similar to the trade on the same day last year. The medium export and heavier lambs were in good demand with the hardier and native standard lambs not so easy sold. 325 Lights averaged 153.64p/kg varying from 135p/kg to 177p/kg. The top call came from R E Hughes Parc Farm with 31kg at £55. 906 Standards levelled at 158.85p/kg with the lambs varying from 137p/kg to 187p/kg. The top call in this section was £67.50 for 39kg lambs from R O Thomas Bryncoch. The 1149 Mediums averaged a pleasing 165.85p/kg varying from 133p/kg to 189p/kg. The top calls came from D J & E G U Jones & Son Lloran Ganol & H C Roberts Orseddwen. 578 Heavy’s ranged from 144p/kg to 174p/kg averaging 160.51p/kg with the top call of £85 from H C Roberts Orseddwen. H C Roberts also topped the overweights at £90 for 57kg lambs.

FAT EWES: (866)
Another good entry of predominately hill bred ewes forward met with some more spirited bidding than that seen in recent weeks. Overall average was £38 with a top price of £90 for a Texel ewe from Reynold Roberts, Penycae. 23 Rams of all shapes and sizes averaged £52 with a top price of £119 for a young Texel tup from A Morris, Tregeiriog.

Improvement in numbers and a generally much better quality entry, selling to a sharper trade for continentals. A decent trade also for best friesian bulls but little demand for poorer Holsteins. STORE CATTLE: (222)
An excellent entry of stores forward with a good selection of cattle on show. Trade followed a similar pattern to recent weeks with genuine suckler bred store cattle easiest to place. Top price was £1130 (185p/kg) paid for 2 Limousin steers aged 26 months sold by D A Williams, Frochas.

£1020 (204p/kg), £920 (206p/kg) & £870 (202p/kg) paid for Limousin and Charolais steers aged 15-18 months sold by J M Tudor, Corwen.
£960 (204p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 18 months sold by W E Owen, Llanyblodwel.
£850 (198p/kg) paid for a pair of Limousin steers aged 16 months sold by W G Savage, Llanymynech.
£860 (212p/kg) paid for 4 Limousin heifers aged 17 months sold by W T Thomas, Llanarmon D C.
£1015 (207p/kg) paid for a Limousin steer aged 21 months sold by M I & T E M Pritchard, Maesbrook.
£920 (202p/kg) paid for 2 Blonde heifers aged 12 months sold by W H Howells, Llandinam.
