A seasonal show of cattle with no superstars in the run sold to a steady trade throughout in reflection with deadweight price quotations. Top slots hit 189p for Heifers, 174p for Bulls and 167p for Steers. Bottom book of 138p for a dairy bred heifer.

FAT LAMBS: (2411)
A very good entry of 2411 prime lambs on Wednesday 28th August 2019. This was a very good entry and the trade and demand was very acceptable on the day averaging 171.5p/kg. 153 Lights averaged 170.5p/kg varying from 122p/kg to 186p/kg. Top call was £55 for 29.5kg lambs from D A & M G Griffiths & Son Tynllwyn. 648 Standards averaged 168p/kg varying from 149p/kg to 189p/kg. This section was topped by M J Williams Pontyperson with 39kg at £73.80. 1164 Mediums averaged 172p/kg ranging from 155p/kg to 242p/kg. The top call was from J H Jones Derwen with 45kg at £109. 309 Heavy’s were in strong demand averaging 172.5p/kg. The top call was 267p/kg again from J H Jones Derwen with 49kg at £131. OLA would like to thank all our customers for their loyal support each week and are proud to announce that we have been in the top three markets to have the highest throughput in England throughout august this year with record entries up to 5900 lambs. This week 11 buyers bought for 29 customers.
FAT EWES: (631)
A seasonal show of 631 cull sheep today met a strong trade on heavier ewes and a patchy trade on smaller types with some plainer light ewes harder to sell, a slightly better average of £43 with a top of £91 for Texel x ewes and £74 for mules, £38 for welsh and £80 for Rams.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (42)
A generally good quality entry particularly Limousins sold to a considerably sharper trade especially for quality Limousin bulls. Several fresh buyers in attendance helped maintain a good level trade throughout. Best heifers look good value for money. Larger entries required weekly. Leading prices: Limousin Bulls to £342 from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa, £340 & £330 from Messrs Jones Lythwell, £300 & £260 from Messrs Foulkes Selattyn Lodge. Limousin Heifers to £228 from Messrs Foulkes Selattyn Lodge, £220 from Messrs Jones Lythwell, £210 from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa. British Blue Heifers to £255, British Blue Bulls to £202 from Messrs Williams Nil Green. Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £182, Hereford Bulls to £165 from Messrs Suckley Weston Farm. Friesian Bulls to £137 from Messrs Foulkes Maesteg.

STORE CATTLE: (64)
A steady show of 64 quality cattle met a brisk trade considering the beef trade, with a top of £1200 for a pair of super Limousin x steers shown by W T Thomas Llwythder Isa, and £1060 for a cracking Simmental x Heifer shown by G & S M Lammie Kenwick Wood Farm. Steers averaged £975 and Heifers averaged £830.
