FAT EWES: (977)
An increased entry was met with a sluggish trade with only the very best ewes attracting a premium. Plainer ewes harder to place. An overall average of £46 was reported with a top price of £91 for a single Texel ewe from S Hudson, Lower Frankton. A difficult trade for the 35 tups on offer resulting in an overall average of £47 and a top price of £80 for a Charollais tup from M R Johnson, Crewe.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (44)
Pleasing to see more forward this week and also several fresh buyers in attendance. Trade again variable with best continental males very keenly contested, particularly Limousins from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa. Poorer types remain difficult to sell, in particular very young calves presented too early. Please present calves at their best to obtain decent prices. Leading prices: Limousin Bulls to £355, £345, £330 & £325 from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa. British Blue Bulls to £275 & £270 from Messrs Morris Trewern. British Blue Heifers to £290 from Messrs Powell Llwynmawr Mill. Hereford Bulls to £240 from Messrs Ede Willow Farm, £220 from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa. Limousin Heifers to £178 from Messrs Davies Ty Brith. Friesian Bulls to £100 from Messrs Gilman Birch Hall. Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £100 from Messrs Vaughan Maesmochnant. Weanling British Blue Heifers 5mo to £450 from Messrs Whittall Lower Maen.
STORE CATTLE: (30)
A steady trade for the cattle on offer with a top price of £1150 (193p/kg) paid for a South Devon steer aged 26 months. Other notable prices included:
£1085 (190p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 22 months sold by D N G Lloyd, Marchwiel. £815 (181p/kg) paid for a British Blue steer aged 20 months sold by G R & D G Jones, Llanyblodwel. £730 (180p/kg) paid for 2 Limousin heifers aged 14 months sold by J G Clay, Dudleston Heath.
