FAT LAMBS: (1694)
This week we had a smaller entry of 1694 prime lambs with an overall SQQ average of 193.56p/kg, trade was steadier throughout but the heavier lambs were still well sold.
Lights (207) averaged 183.8p/kg and sold to 200p/kg from G E Davies & Sons Caesiencyn & D A & M G Griffiths & Son Tynllwyn and £63 from G E Davies & Sons Caesiencyn.
Standards (626) averaged 191.27p/kg and sold to 208p/kg from A C & K Tomley & Son Parc Uchaf and £78 from D T Roberts Ty Issa.
Mediums (761) averaged 196.98p/kg and sold to 225p/kg from J H Jones Derwen and £98 from T H Vaughan & Son Maesmochnant & J H Jones Derwen
Heavies (35) averaged 196.85p/kg and sold to 202p/kg from E P Broad Emral Hall & EB & L G Jones Tynymynydd and £97 from C M Phillips & Co Broniarth.
FAT EWES: (1763)
Another bumper entry of ewes forward with a good selection of ewes of all different types. Trade held firm for the stronger ewes but harder work on plainer Welsh ewes. Overall average was £46 with a top price of £105 for ewes forward from W G & S P & M E Foulkes, Selattyn. 27 tups averaged £73 with a top price of £107.50 for a Texel ram from
T & B Williams, Llangedwyn.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (49)
Pleasing to see increased numbers today with good demand for best continentals and British Friesian bulls. Older staler calves were found more difficult to sell today. Best Limousin Bulls topping at £355, £335 & £315 from Messrs Bowen Glanwantyn, £305 from Messrs Richards Porthygan, £292, £280 & £250 from Messrs Roberts Ty Issa. British Blue Bulls to £310 & £250 from Messrs Whittall Lower Maen. Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £230 from Messrs Humphreys Moydog Fawr. Limousin Heifers to £290 from Messrs Lloyd Jones Rhydonnen Isaf. British Blue Heifers to £230 from Messrs Pryce Bwlchydderwen, £228 & £222 from Messrs Whittall Lower Maen. Hereford Heifers to £185 (twice) from Messrs Edwards Lower Sweeney. Friesian Bulls to £165 & £90 from Messrs Steele Treflach Hall, £55 from Merssrs Gilman Birch Hall. Montbeliarde Bulls to £80 from Messrs Edwards Lower Sweeney.
STORE CATTLE: (70)
A typical summer entry met with a more subdued trade which is not totally unexpected with the challenging beef trade at present. Top price was £1110 (179p/kg) paid for 3 Limousin steers aged 24 months sold by G M & D Hughes & Son, Lower Halton.
20 steers averaged £885 (186p/kg) and 50 heifers averaged £718 (165p/kg) with notable prices including:
£890 (209p/kg) & £790 (198p/kg) paid for British Blue steers aged 17-22 months sold by J H Williams, Llansilin.
£780 (204p/kg) paid for 3 Limousin steers aged 24 months sold by J T Evans, Pontfadog.
£995 (197p/kg), £990 (200p/kg) & £790 (205p/kg) paid for Limousin heifers aged 20-21 months sold by I M & G Jones, Llanrhaeadr.
