FAT CATTLE: (29)
A firm trade on all types forward today with some nice runs forward. Top slots hit 263p for Heifers, 204p for Steers and 186p for Bulls. Best run of handyweight Heifers averaged 260p/kg for four of them. Bottom book of 158p/kg for a Steer. An overall market average of 200p/kg was achieved. Make sure all cattle are clean and double tagged when offered for sale.

A pleasing trade but more cattle needed each week to satisfy demand.

FAT EWES: (837)
Similar numbers forward, a good trade still for strong ewes with that spreading into a bit better trade for well meated mules. Trade still difficult in welsh and plainer ewes. Overall average of £37 with a top price of £90.50 for a ewe from T I Morris Maesybwch. 12 Rams averaged £68.50 with a top price of £190 for a texel ram who was right and straight for breeding from S. Jones, St Martins.
STORE SHEEP: (214)
A larger entry of 214 store lambs were present this week, generally the strength of the lambs present this week were not as strong as seen in previous weeks but yet again sold to a solid trade. The majority of the lambs present were tup and were very much in demand. Top price of the day was achieved by J P Franklin Penybont Hall who sold a pen of 18 strong crossbred tup lambs for £66. Averages: Ewe lambs £33.50, Mixed Lambs £40.35, Tup lambs £38.39.

Average numbers today with trade just marginally better than last week on the good continentals, little demand for those calves of poor confirmation or too young for presentation.
