FAT CATTLE: (20)
Another limited show but nevertheless a good trade on all types forward. Top slots flew to 256p for Heifers, 190p for Bulls and 187p for Steers. Highest in the lump was £1331 for a Heifer. Bottom book of 160p for a lean dairy bred Heifer. If you have cattle to sell please contact the Auctioneer Jonathan Evans on 07971 002650 or the Market office. A few more around with the trade still mixed with plain ewes still hard to sell. Overall average was £37 with a top price of £93 for 2 pens of heavy Suffolk ewes from G Jones, Ruthin. 14 Rams averaged £71 with a top price of £94 for a Charolais tup from D T Jones, Llanfyllin.
STORE SHEEP: (173)
A reduced entry of 159 store lambs were present this week and on the whole a stronger trade was seen throughout. Tup lambs topped at £64.50 for 21 strong crossbred lambs sold by J P Franklin Penybont Hall. The majority of the lambs present this week were Ewe lambs and averaged a very pleasing £52.84, they peaked at £62 for 20 strong Mules from
J E Hughes & Son Tuhwntirafon. Mixed lambs topped at £55 for 16 lambs from J H Williams Fron. Overall averages: Ewe Lambs £52.84, Mixed Lambs £35.19 Tup Lambs £64.50.

G M & D Hughes & Son, Lower Halton.

R J Slater & Son, Baschurch sold an excellent show of Limousin steers selling to £990 (232p/kg) & £990.
(218p/kg). £1150 (217p/kg), £960 (228p/kg) & £950 (220p/kg) paid for Charolais steers aged 13-16 months sold by J M Tudor, Corwen.
£710 (215p/kg) & £700 (215p/kg) paid for Limousin steers aged 5-10 months sold by M Jones & Son Llanerfyl.
