FAT CATTLE: (32)
A few more faces back today with another firm trade throughout. Top slots flew to 247p/kg for Heifers 221p/kg for Steers and 188p/kg for Bulls. Highest price in the lump was £1397 for a Steer and a bottom book of 140p/kg for a large lean Steer. FAT EWES: (743)
Over two thirds of the entry today were Welsh ewes which accounts for the overall average of £28. However there was a bit more of a buzz around the trade today with a few more graziers helping to keep things competitive. Stronger ewes were also back in demand with a top price of £114 & £108 for ewes from A J Tulloch, St Martins. Top price Rams were £124 & £118.50 for tups from H De Rosa, Erbistock.
STORE SHEEP: (331)
A smaller entry of 107 breeding ewes were present this week and a stronger entry of 210 store lambs. The breeding ewes topped at £90 for a pen of strong 3 year old Suffolk x ewes from T Farrall, Sundorne, Gwern y Brenin. Arthur Roberts, Craig yr Onwy, Capel Celyn, Bala presented his annual consignment of 85 3 and 4 year old welsh ewes that sold for £32.
Another strong trade on the store lambs was seen again this week reaching the highs of £80 for a cracking pen of 23 Texel x ewe lambs from R A Eccleston, 1 Bentley Drive. The store tup lambs topped at £50.50 for 2 pens of mules presented by T & HL Thomas, Plas Newydd, Llansilin.
Overall Averages: Ewe lambs - £60.26, Mixed lambs - £43, Tup lambs - £41.81.
17 breeding rams were present this week with a good variation of breeds throughout. Top price of the day was 240gns for a Texel x Beltex yearling ram presented by J W A Jones, Lynton. Charmoise yearling rams also reached the 200gns mark from the Morris family of Plas, Tregeiriog.

A distinct shortage of good calves with trade generally just a shade sharper particularly for continental Males, small calves look very good value for money at this time. Leading prices: Limousin Bulls to £310 from Messrs Foulkes Selattyn Lodge. British Blue Bulls to £285 from Messrs Griffiths Ashcroft £270 from Messrs Edwards Tynewydd £240 from Messrs Owen Tanycoed. Limousin Heifers to £256 from Messsrs Rees Ivydale Farm £205 from Messrs Edwards Tynewydd. British Blue Heifers to £220, £215 & £210 from Messrs Davies Lower Fawnog. Aberdeen Angus Heifers to £190 from Messrs Ede Willow Farm. Aberdeen Angus Bulls to £170 from Messrs Davies Lower Fawnog. Friesian Bulls to £94 from Messrs Steele Treflach Hall.

STORE CATTLE: (110)
A decent show again with the trade perhaps not reaching the heights of recent weeks. Top price was £1120 (191p/kg) paid for a pair of Limousin steers aged 23 months sold by
J Rogers, Garth.
74 steers averaged £877 (182p/kg) with notable prices including:
£810 (216p/kg) & £795 (209p/kg) paid for Charolais steers aged 17 months sold by J H Morris, Llanrhaeadr.
£1100 (202p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 22 months sold by W G Savage, Llanymynech
£800 (216p/kg) paid for a Limousin steer aged 17 months sold by J H Williams, Llansilin
36 heifers averaged £753 (173p/kg) with notable prices including:
£950 (192p/kg) & £900 (188p/kg)paid for Limousin heifers aged 15-18 months sold by W Clark & Son, Woolston.
£755 (191p/kg) & £695 (188p/kg) paid for Charolais heifers aged 14-16 months sold by J Davies, Llanfihangel.
Entries in excess of 150 are already forward for the next sale on the 10th October with entries invited for weekly sales through the remainder of October.
