FAT EWES: (1284)
A good entry forward with the trade following a similar pattern to recent weeks with the stronger ewes finding plenty of interest whilst the larger proportion of plainer and Welsh ewes harder to sell. Overall average was £42 with a top price of £124 going to Texel ewes from Messrs. Bowyer, Preeshenlle. 11 Rams averaged £65 with a top price of £114 for a pair of tups from D Jones, Carno.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (34)
Quality calves in very short supply with a large majority inferior sorts, decent demand for those of good confirmation but poorer types harder to sell. Vendors are encouraged to present their calves at their best in order to obtain optimum prices. Top price today Limousin Bulls at £320 from Messrs Lewis Caenymynydd. British Blue Bulls to £300 from Messrs Lewis Green Hall £274 from Messrs Lewis Caenymynydd £250 from Messrs Wildbore Carreghofa. British Blue Heifers to £293 from Messrs Lewis Caenymynydd. STORE CATTLE: (50)
Numbers broadly in line with where we would expect them for August. A bit more trade around with buyers back looking for cattle. Top price was £1285 (214p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 15 months sold by T M Morgan, Welshpool. Steers averaged £1046 (207p/kg) & Heifers averaged £886 (201p/kg) with notable prices including: £710 (229p/kg) for Limousin steers and £770 (220p/kg) & £730 (223p/kg) for Limousin heifers all aged 14-15 months sold by H E & M L Evans, Rhydycroesau.
£1260 (217p/kg) & £1135 (226p/kg) paid for Charolais steers aged 14-18 months sold by T M Morgan, Welshpool. £1180 (215p/kg) paid for a Charolais heifer aged 18 months sold by O W Lloyd & Son, Llanfihangel. £1035 (211p/kg) & £955 (203p/kg) paid for Charolais heifers aged 16 months sold by R T Jones & Co, Dolanog.

A few less about today but a tidy trade throughout. Heifers to 146p/kg Cows to 141p/kg with an overall average of 118.89p/kg kicking in with a plain spiv at 62p/kg.
