Short on numbers but not on quality!! A good show again met another firm trade throughout. Top slots hit 238p for Heifers, 215p for Steers and 197p for Bulls. Highest in the lump was £1333 for a Heifer and bottom book of 190p for a Heifer. An overall average of 211.5p was achieved. Less ewes around overall but the largest show of Welsh ewes for some time. Trade was good for all types with an overall average of £50. Top price of £128 went to a pen of strong Suffolk ewes from J H Evans & Son, Llanidloes. 35 Rams averaged £85 with a top price of £142 for a Texel tup fromM J Williams, Four Crosses.

Similar numbers selling to a sharper trade with several fresh buyers in attendance helping to bolster demand. Decent weanlings forward selling to good demand.

An interesting mix of cattle on show with a lot of younger cattle and quite a few dairy bred stores in the mix. No impact on the fantastic trade with buyers keenly contesting everything on show.Top price was £1270 (218p/kg) paid for a pair of Limousin steers aged 24 months sold by D I & R E Lewis, Llanrhaeadr.

£835 (248p/kg) paid for 3 Aberdeen Angus steers aged 12 months sold by D G Thomas, Carno.

64 heifers averaged £875 (207p/kg) with notable prices including:

Usual entry of 10 OTM’S with trade consistent a few plainer cows holding the average down to 119.82p/kg but no less of a trade than of recent times.
