FAT CATTLE: (34)
A similar number forward again today met a similar trade with some nice runs forward. Top slots hit 238p for Heifers, 211p for Steers and 159p for Bulls. Highest price in the lump was £1400 for a Steer, bottom book for a lean bull was 130p/kg. Please make sure all cattle are clean and double tagged when offered for sale. 264 Lights average 181.72p/kg varying from 130p/kg to 213p/kg. 341 Standards average 206.3p/kg varying from 167p/kg to 236p/kg. 578 Mediums average 242.43p/kg varying from 190p/kg to 268p/kg top call came from J H & S E Roberts & Sons Rolly Farm with 42kg at £112.50. 225 Heavy’s average 228.26p/kg varying from 186p/kg to 250p/kg top call also from J H & S E Roberts & Sons Rolly Farm with 47kg at £117.50 top call for overweights was £140 a head, overall Hogget average 221.5p/kg.
FAT LAMBS: (118)
A respectable show of 118 Spring lambs with an overall average of 296p/kg with the SQQ at 298p/kg. Top call in the lights section was £75 for 30kg. The standards peaked at £124 (326p/kg) for 38kg from S Hudson Wood Farm. The mediums averaged 297.28p/kg peaking at £132.50 (323p/kg) for 41kg also from S Hudson Wood Farm.
FAT EWES: (813)
Nice to see a few more around with a bigger proportion of Welsh ewes than that seen in recent weeks. Trade perhaps not reaching the recent highs but still plenty of interest around and a respectable overall average of £51. Top price was £124 for a Charolais ewe from G R Moseley & Son, Knockin. 21 tups averaged £76 with a top price of £158 for a cracking ram from F Davies & Son, Llangollen.

A good show of generally good quality continentals sold to a rather disappointing trade with very few buyers attending, most prospective buyers either full with sheep or unable to turn cattle out.
