FAT CATTLE: (30)
A lot of weight forward and plenty of meat today and another firm trade throughout. Top slots hit 242p for Heifers, 217p for Steers and 214p for a Bull. Highest price in the lump was £1549 for a Steer bottom book of 165p for a meated heavy Friesian Steer. An overall market average of 206p/kg was achieved. Less on show with the trade not reaching the heights of the last few weeks. However a total clearance was reported with an overall average of £50. Top price was £137 paid for a Texel ewe from D & E Davies, Selattyn. 15 Rams averaged £74 with a top price of £136 for a tup from G M & D Hughes & Son, Lower Halton.

A much improved presentation of calves together with a ring full of buyers resulting in a considerable increase in demand for all sorts. A good selection of weanlings also well sold. A few more around than expected with more vendors taking advantage of our excellent trade. Steers averaged a very respectable 220p/kg and heifers 222p/kg. Top price was £1260 (227p/kg) paid for a pair of Charolais steers aged 20 months sold by R L Edwards, Llansantffraid.
79 steers averaged £925 (220p/kg) with notable prices including:
D G Williams, Llandrillo topped an excellent run of Limousin steers aged 9-10 months at £930 (254p/kg), £800 (250p/kg) & £785 (260p/kg).
£905 (250p/kg) paid for 4 Limousin steers aged 10 months sold by Edwards Bros, Llanrhaeadr.
£1175 (245p/kg) paid for 2 Charolais steers aged 22 months sold by R L Edwards, Llansantffraid
80 heifers averaged £910 (222p/kg) with notable prices including:
D G Williams, Llandrillo topped the heifers as well with Limousin heifers aged 9-10 months selling for £895 (258p/kg), £840 (280p/kg), £840 (270p/kg) & £800 (246p/kg).
£950 (244p/kg) paid for a Blue heifer aged 11 months sold by E J & A J Roberts, Montgomery.
£1120 (241p/kg) paid for 2 Charolais heifers aged 20 months sold by J Hamlett, Ruyton.
