FAT CATTLE: (19)
Another small number of cattle met a slightly stronger trade on the whole. Top slots hit 226p for Heifers 153p for Bulls. Highest price in the lump was £1176 for a Heifer. A harder trade on the whole but more than favourable with the current deadweight prices being quoted. Thank you for your continued support.
FAT LAMBS: (5886)
Oswestry Livestock Auctions are proud to announce that this week they sold the highest number of lambs in one market in one day throughout England and were in the top three highest throughput markets in the UK. They sold a record 5886 lambs in 2hrs and 15 minutes to average 184p/kg. 12 buyers represented 37 different orders which demonstrates that there is plenty of demand for all types of lambs at Oswestry.

Mediums average 188.5p/kg to 225p/kg from M & R Morris Maestanyglwyden

FAT EWES: (1596)
A bumper entry of ewes forward. Stronger ewes in short supply with a lot of plainer ewes on show, which didn’t help the overall trade.
Average of £35 with a top price of £85 for ewes from M & R Morris, Penybont. 19 Rams averaged £53 with a top price of £90 for 3 tups from W D Morris, Tregynon.
A Ram hogg from G R Moseley & Son, Knockin also made £90.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (66)
The largest entry for quite some time selling to a reasonable trade throughout, plenty of buyers in attendance helped maintain a good level of demand with best continental male & females keenly contested. Young, inferior quality sorts remain at low levels but fractionally easier to sell today, please present your calves at their best. Leading prices: Limousin Bulls to £342 from Messrs Bowen Glanwantyn, £285 from Messrs Foulkes Selattyn Lodge. Charolais Bulls to £305 from Messrs Foulkes Selattyn Lodge. British Blue Bulls to £268 & £195 from Messrs Jerman Coedmawr. Limousin Heifers to £262, £240 & £190 from Messrs Jerman Coedmawr. British Blue Heifers to £270 from Messrs Owen Tanycoed, £185 from Messrs Jerman Coedmawr. Hereford Heifers to £252 from Messrs Ede Willow Farm, £165 & £142 from Messrs Lewis Crumpwell. Aberdeen Angus Heifers to £160 from Messrs Evans Priddbwll Mawr. Simmental Bulls to £140 from Messrs Evans Stone House. Holstein Friesian Bulls to £76 from Messrs Evans Stone House.

STORE CATTLE: (24)
A seasonal entry with a top price of £1210 (189p/kg) paid for a Charolais steer aged 23 months sold by J E M Savage, Loppington. The same seller also sold Charolais heifers aged 20-26 months for £1125 (192p/kg), £975 (202p/kg), £965 (193p/kg) & £885 (190p/kg).
Other notable prices included:
£900 (222p/kg) & £890 (189p/kg) paid for British Blue steers aged 16 & 18 months sold by C D Davies & Son, Pontfadog.
£970 (198p/kg), £930 (194p/kg) & £920 (200p/kg) paid for Limousin & Bazadaise steers aged 15-18 months sold by R J Slater & Son, Baschurch.
