FAT CATTLE: (27)
A very good show of Heifers forward today selling on a much sharper trade but they were exceptional cattle. Top slots hit 241p for Heifers and 223p for Steers. Highest price in the lump was £1339 for a Heifer. Bottom book of 175p for an overweight Steer. An overall market average of 216p was achieved. More Welsh ewes on show today with trade throughout still sluggish. Overall average was £40 with a top price of £110 for a pen of Texel ewes from W Jackson, St Martins. A good show of mainly native breed rams were topped at £90 for a pair of tups from G T Hughes, Derwen.

CALVES & WEANLINGS: (33)
A few more calves on show but more required each week. Buyers a little more selective today with some of the best calves on show perhaps not reaching their full potential. Limousin bulls sold to £350, £274 & £252 from D T Roberts, Llanfechain, £310 from C A Wildbore, Llanymynech. Simmental bulls to £350 & £345 from G M & G J Evans, Llanfihangel. British Blue bulls to £300 from J P Farms, Kerry. Hereford bulls to £202 from T Lewis, Maesbury. Limousin heifers to £275 from T T Jones & Son, West Felton.
British Blue heifers to £252 from T Lewis, Maesbury. Hereford heifers to £185 from R B & H L Edwards, Sweeney. Simmental heifers to £240 from G M & G J Evans, Llanfihangel.
A consignment of Friesian weanlings is expected for next weeks sale (13th) with entries invited for a further weanling sale to be held on the 27th February.
STORE CATTLE: (247)
One of the largest weekly entries in some time was met with a ring full of buyers all keen for stores of all types. Top price of the day was £1240 (212p/kg) paid for a pair of Charolais steers aged 22 months sold by R R & P F Evans, Carrog.
124 steers averaged £934 (202p/kg) with notable prices including:
D G Williams, Llandrillo presented an excellent run of Limousin steers aged 9-12 months selling for £860 (230p/kg), £785 (232p/kg), £780 (241p/kg) & £770 (238p/kg).
£715 (234p/kg) paid for a pair of Limousin steers aged 10 months sold by R E Astley, Llanerfyl.
£1225 (223p/kg), £1055 (232p/kg) & £995 (224p/kg) paid for Limousin steers aged 18-21 months sold by A R & E M Evison, Nantmawr.
123 heifers averaged £898 (192p/kg) with notable prices including:
£760 (229p/kg) & £735 (232p/kg) paid for bunches of 9-10 month old Limousin heifers sold by D G Williams, Llandrillo.
£1100 (229p/kg) paid for a Limousin heifer aged 20 months sold by W Watkin, Brithdir.
£1110 (225p/kg) paid for 2 Charolais heifers aged 21 months sold by R L Edwards, Llansantffraid.
